📜Origin Story
- Mahabharata (Adi Parva 169-171) and Vishnu Purana (IV.3): The Kshatriya kings of the Haiheya dynasty attacked the Bhargava Brahmins to seize their wealth. They massacred the Bhargava men mercilessly. The pregnant wives fled to the Himalayas.
- One Bhargava woman concealed the embryo in her thigh (uru = thigh) to save it. When the Haiheyans discovered the pregnant women and tried to kill the last embryo, the child burst forth from the mother's thigh with such intense fire-radiance (tejas) that it blinded all the Haiheya soldiers instantly.
- Because he was born from the thigh (uru), he was named Aurva. His birth-fire was so powerful it illuminated the entire Himalayan range.

His birth from the thigh of his mother released a cataclysmic fire that blinded the entire Haiheya army. This established him as the embodiment of Bhargava wrath.
The Vadavagni — Submarine Fire (Mahabharata, Adi Parva 171; Vishnu Purana)
Aurva performed terrible austerities, generating a fire so powerful that it threatened to consume the entire world. The Pitrs (ancestral spirits) urged him to release his anger. Aurva agreed but could not extinguish the fire, so he directed it into the ocean, where it took the form of a mare's head (Vadava-mukha) that breathes fire beneath the sea.
Preceptor of King Sagara (Vishnu Purana; Harivamsa)
Aurva became the guru of King Sagara of the Solar Dynasty. He taught Sagara the divine weapons (divyastras), including the Agneyastra (fire weapon), and guided him in reconquering his kingdom.
