Key Life Events

The Anthill Meditation and Sukanya's Discovery (Mahabharata, Vana Parva; Bhagavata Purana IX.3)

Chyavana performed tapas for so long that a termite mound grew completely over his body. Only his eyes remained visible, glowing like fireflies. Princess Sukanya, daughter of King Sharyati, saw two glowing points and poked them with a thorn, blinding the rishi.

Rejuvenation by the Ashwini Kumaras (Shatapatha Brahmana IV.1.5; Mahabharata Vana Parva)

The twin divine physicians, the Ashwini Kumaras, offered to rejuvenate Chyavana. All three — the two Ashwini Kumaras and Chyavana — entered a sacred lake. When they emerged, all three were identically young, radiant, and handsome.
